State Route 383 (SR 383) is a north south state highway in the central portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. The highway is a spur route whose southern terminus is at the entrance to Ohio's oldest Catholic Church, Saint Joseph's, nearly southeast of Somerset. County Road 60 (CR 60, Old Somerset Road) picks up where SR 383 leaves off heading southeast from the church entrance. The northern terminus of SR 383 is at a T-intersection with SR 13 just east of the village limits of Somerset. Somerset is a village in Perry County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,481 at the 2010 census. It is located 9.5 miles north of the county seat New Lexington and has a dedicated historical district. Perry County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 35,408. Its county seat is New Lexington. It was established on March 1, 1818, from parts of Fairfield, Washington and Muskingum counties. The county is named for Oliver Hazard Perry, a hero of the War of 1812. Spur Route
A spur route is a short road forming a branch from a longer, more important road such as a freeway, Interstate Highway, or motorway. A bypass or beltway should not be considered a true spur route as it typically reconnects with another or the same major road. Canada In the province of Ontario, most spur routes are designated as A or B, such as Highway 17A, or 7B. Saint Joseph's Catholic Church (Somerset, Ohio)
Saint Joseph's Catholic Church is a historic church in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Columbus, located in Somerset, Ohio. It is one of the oldest Catholic church buildings in Ohio and home to Ohio's oldest Catholic parish which has been served by priests of the Dominican order since its foundation. Built in 1843, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. History In approximately 1798, Jacob Dittoe, a German-Catholic pioneer, moved to the Ohio wilderness in the area near modern-day Somerset. State Route 13 is a north–south state highway in the northern and southeastern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. It is the tenth longest state route in Ohio . Its southern terminus is at State Route 550 near Athens, and its northern terminus is at U.S. Route 6 in Huron.
